Would You Love Life and See Good Days?

Although we are often convinced that we’re living in a troubled, thankless, and indifferent world, don’t we still find ourselves striving to fulfill our dreams and have enough happiness; and mostly trouble-free if we had a choice. But, alas, here’s the challenge: “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1, NKJV). And from our own observation and experience we know that’s right.

Still, the Bible says, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days…” (1 Pet. 3:10, NLT). If?! If we want it? Is there a catch? And do we have a choice? Yes. There are some simple and fun things we all can do to make our way through this old, troubled world with a special, comforting joy. And besides those things we can do, there are some things we need to acknowledge and utilize with zealous determination.

One of those things is a fixed hope – a believer’s hope – defined as “desire and expectation.” We are not only to be resolute in our strong desire for exciting and fulfilling blessings, but we are also convinced it’s only right to expect them! This is what it’s all about – this is why we’re here. “…because we were called to do this…so that you/we might receive a blessing.” (1 Pet. 3:9, NCV).

“The Scripture says, “A person must do these things to enjoy life and have many happy days. (1) He must not say evil things and tell lies. (2) He must stop doing evil and do good. (3) He must look for peace and work for it. The Lord sees good people and listens to their prayers. But the Lord is against those who do evil.”” (1 Pet. 3:10–12, NCV)

Now, would you rather have the Almighty God of the universe pulling for you (listening to you) or have Him against you? If you choose to never acknowledge Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, you’re automatically against Him and at your death here, or when time ends, you’ll be destroyed in Hell’s Lake of burning fire (Rev. 20:11-14). It’s a “no-brainer” then. Only by following His instructions will you find lasting joy in living here.
