“A lot of people who are worrying about the future ought to be preparing for it, instead.”
As we face a future of contemporaneous crises, we need not respond with fear and anxiety, but trust in the comforting power of the One who causes everything to work together for the good of all who love Him (Rom. 8:28) – to trust God and faithfully wait in confident expectation of His providential care to manifest itself in our lives. Here we are, blessed with the most healthy, intelligent, highly-advanced, and enlightened generation to ever occupy this soon-to-pass-away-planet and too many of us are worrying ourselves sick anyway. Further, it’s over stuff that’s doomed to be destroyed on the final Day of Judgement.
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” (2 Pet. 3:10, NASB95)
If you must worry, worry about wasting time worrying about all that’s cluttering up our lives here on earth! It’s both remarkable and unfortunate that even we who know God and His wonderful plans for us are not immune to this despairing disorder.
“So don’t worry about things, saying, ‘What’ll we eat? What’ll we drink? What’ll we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.” (Mt. 6:31–33, NLT)
“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isa. 40:31, NKJV)
You’ve done your part: You’ve prayed and tried to help. You’ve cried and worried. Now, stand still and watch God do His part!
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Ps. 46:1, NIV)
