Community Connections of Arkansas is a non-profit organization that that provides the opportunity to children with special needs to participate in extracurricular activities like sports.
From their website: “Community Connections is a 501 c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with special needs and their families. Many children with developmental and intellectual disabilities live in a cycle of school and therapy with little opportunity for extra-curricular activity. At the same time, their families often lack education and a support network. Community Connections was established in 2007 when Todd and Amy Denton (owners of Pediatrics Plus Therapy Services) and some of their staff saw that many children with special needs did not have the opportunity to play sports and participate in the arts like their siblings and peers. From this need, Community Connections was created with the goal of helping families address various health, developmental, and social needs by offering comprehensive programs and services not currently available in our Arkansas communities.”
