We’re aware of the power of the spoken word. A person must bear the responsibility for the words he/she uses when speaking to others. Words may be viewed as something on which a person feeds and by the consequences of their speech, that person’s position and fate is determined. As in physical health the phrase is “We are what we eat.” By the same token, I suppose we could say, “We are what we speak.” Thus, the Bible urges us to speak cautiously – “be slow to speak” and to think before you speak…or just don’t say anything.
The Good Book also says, “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;” (Rom. 12:10) and “Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.” (1 Pet. 2:17). With that in mind, many of you already know that First Community Bank, located all over Arkansas and parts of Missouri, recently published a slick and glowing annual report for First Community Bancshares, Inc. The report highlighted significant achievements for many businesses in these areas as well, including Myers-Davis Life Coaching. That review in their report begins:
